We're having our 5th annual Fiber Fleece Sale in 2017 (June 10 & 11) at the CNY Fiber Festival in Bouckville, NY.

2013Fleece SaleAND, it will run again for TWO days. If you are a fiber enthusiast who can help volunteer with the sale, contact June Preston by email (see below).  ONLINE REGISTRATION IS OPEN NOW!

Only members of the CNY Fiber Artists and Producers are allowed to sell fiber at this sale. If you are not already a member of our organization, make sure to go to the Membership webpage and join up.

Typically a fleece sale sells raw sheep fleeces only but we recognize that our producers raise more than one fiber animal species.  Therefore, we allow producers to sell raw fiber from sheep, goats, alpacas, llamas, rabbits, or any other fiber animal.  Each producer may sell up to a total of 10 bags fleece/fiber. This is a sale only; no fiber will be judged.  If you aren't sure about how to pick out a specific fleece for a project, are just learning about the different types of fiber, or have some questions about skirting or washing the fleece, our volunteers will help you out.

The entry fee for the sale is STILL only $3.00 per fleece/bag of fiber, with NO additional percentage charged as a sales commission. Fiber will be accepted on Friday June 9th from 2pm-6pm for your convenience.  The sale on Saturday will run from 10am-5pm and on Sunday from 10am-3:30pm.  Fiber that is unsold may be picked up after the sale on Sunday from 3:30-5pm.

The 2017 specific directions for labeling fleeces are posted here. The 2017 Fiber/Fleece Sale Tags are here. Please note there are a few changes to the information requested on these sale tags.  Registration in the sale has to be made on-line.  NOTE: Once you make your on-line entries, you have up to June 1st 4th to make changes (with the committee's permission) but NOT after that date. Note: Registration deadline has been extended to June 4th!

2015FiberSaleOur committee has to base their sale planning on those entries and later changes really wreck havoc with those plans. We want your fiber sales to go smoothly for everyone so Thanks for understanding.

All sale fiber must be dropped off at the festival grounds for display on Friday, June 9th from 2-6pm as noted above. ALL unclaimed fiber as of Sunday June 11 after 5 pm, becomes the property of CNY Fiber Artists and Producers.

Our goal is to provide the consumer with beautiful, healthy, clean fiber. To that end, the committee will screen all fleeces upon entry. Decision of the sale managers is final.  Note also that unlike a conventional fleece sale, our sale allows the seller to determine the quantity of fiber to be sold per bag. For example, the seller may have shorter neck fibers from multiple alpacas in one bag that would be perfect for felting, and the prime blanket of each alpaca (better suited for spinning into lace yarns) in separate bags. Therefore, the prices of each of these bags of quality fiber will likely vary.

Fiber entered for sale must be: well skirted, in clear plastic bags large enough to accommodate the entire fleece or fiber entry, not tied, and not heavily contaminated with vegetable matter or other debris. Fiber in this state is not eligible for inclusion in the sale.

At this time, please direct questions about the requirements of the 2017 Fleece Sale to June Preston at prestonsalpacas at yahoo dot com.

And a Big Thank You from the entire festival committee to June Preston &   Amy Fancher (Preston's Alpacas & Fancher Farms Alpacas in Tent D), and Debra Dutcher (Dutchayr Fibers in Tent C) for their work setting up this event.  Hopefully they will be able to spend a bit more time in their own booths with more volunteers helping.
